Just bad luck. No way to increase your chances of getting a green except hard mode. Took me 2 months just to get my first green from sorrow's furnace. Then i got lucky, then nothing again etc...

You're doing it with henchmen why?

If you want greens to drop you have to learn how to solo bosses for their greens.

Aren't Greens Exempt from that? (Does not matter if in NM or HM , you still have the same chance's?)

Best way to do it is going solo, sometimes you will get the Green on the First or Second Run, and others it takes a long time...Took me 162 times of soloing The Mindclouder until it finally dropped. The Scar Eater dropped on the First time...

I have also Went through Tombs and got nothing at the end, it is just a matter of luck...keep at it and you will get your greens!

I completed Nightfall with 5 characters and only saw 3 green's drop, but then in the 2 years I've played GW my drops have been very poor - less than 1 in 10 chests produce a gold and then it's invariably for a profession I don't play like mesmer, assassin or paragon, last black dye drop was 18 month's ago, never had a white dye drop. My ranger has never had an ecto drop in the underworld even though loads of trips for clearances and in trapping parties and on my last FoW trips most in the party got 3-5 shards each with me sod all - I've got used to it now and rarely play as much (I hate farming, and can't see the point of playing a multi-player game solo - might as well play an offline game with loads more options and depth imo).

Greens are exempt from loot scaling. That means that they still have the same chance to drop regardless of the number of persons in your party, either in hard mode or normal mode.

In hard mode, though you have better chances of getting gold, purple, green and other high end items than in normal mode. That is not related to loot scaling in any way. It's just to make HM more rewarding and more appealing.

sunday I vanquished another 3 areas with guildies. got 2 good greens. before that, last green I got was like 4 months ago (not counting the ones I merch from zelnehlun) and it sucked.

tijo: hard mode affects your green drop percent chance by adding a solid 0%!!!! just so ya know. hard mode: no effect on green drops, just the gold and purple

WOW!, thats what I call determination. Most of the time, I try 20 times and if I don't get it, I say screw it and buy it from someone (that goes for any green)

You need to solo bosses to get greens. And even going solo, as other posters have mentioned, multiple runs are needed to get the greens. For example, I didnt get anything from Modti for the first 20 runs and in the next 10 runs, got his staff 5 times!

Nothing so far from Exuro.......going on 35 runs now :P

Yep, same here - been trying for Exuro's Will for some time and no drop. Before they removed the anti-farming code it was the first time I ever triggered the anti-farming code.

So far, outside of the triple drop weekend, I have only ever had one green I was actively trying for drop - Eshekibeh's Scythe. Though I overall had a great amount of luck with the triple drop weekend (well, on everything but Exuro's Will - well over the 50 attempt mark and none).

I've got over 1500 hours in game, while I have been here since about a month or two after release most of that time was after Factions was released. So they still aren't *that* common. I tend to find that just farming greens (killing a multitude of different bosses) works pretty well, however farming a specific green (same boss over and over) usually seems to suck. Though I think that tends more towards perception than reality - when I do not really care I'm just playing and the time goes by quickly.

I'd played for nine months before I got my first green drop, and even that one was by accident while doing exploration for cartography title with a full hero team. Before that I'd tried green farming a few times with no results. I'd never gotten a green in Tombs either (for some reason I am usually the one who gets an ecto drop, but no green).
My second and third green drops afterwards were also with a full hero/hench team while either exploring or just playing the game normally. Generally I've got really poor luck with drops - I've only had one black dye drop for me during all my gameplay, and golds are few and far between. I don't even bother farming too much since I find it boring and with my luck I never get anything good.

It's all about luck, there's nothing you can do to make your chances better. Farming bosses solo does seem to help, but sometimes you can get lucky otherwise too.

Man to the sounds of it, it looks like exuro is an pain in the ass.

He should be called Exuro Nodropus instead of Exuro Flatus

I had to slaughter Sorrow Furnace many times before my first green, and sadly it was Gognard's sword (the non-longsword). Sigh, it is worth nothing.

As above people have said: The only thing that will affect the dropping of greens is how many people/hench are in your party. The drop rate is the same but it will always be divided between the party(yes even henches) so your henches are stealing your drops. Even if you had only one hench in your party it would lower your chances a lot. Best way to go about it if you really want greens is to learn to solo farm them. I have been doing this for a while now and even if it takes tens of runs on average for me I always get the drop in the end. It's a matter of persistance. Although greens are a bit of a pain to sell unless they are really popular ones imho and mostly I just end up giving them to my own characters as "ok" max dmg weapons.

I have occasionally gotten greens while just playing/exploring with a full party but this is pretty random.

Hey.... you are not alone! The only greens I have ever seen after playing for more than two years .... is the "Kaolin Accursed Staff" and I was not even playing a SS necro!
The others green items I have ....... I bought from players and some I got them for free from my Guildies!

I'm not a lucky player but I don't care anymore!

Well, "flatus" *is* the term for the gas expelled from the very end of you digestive tract (well, more technically his name means "burning wind" - however Flatus now has the newer meaning). So I guess the "Burning Fart" fits fairly well

Though I would guess it is more luck - I've had good luck getting a few deathbringers for my heroes and other people have had not so much luck. Fact is there are about 10-20 bosses most of us that solo farm things (be it for gold or to equip characters/heroes) like greens from and maybe under 5 that you *really* want greens from, so the number of bosses talked about is low. You probably do not really remember ones you happened to have drop while just playing nor the ones achieved in the first 5-10 runs, nor do you give it that many tries for the "It's nice to have" class greens.

You remember the ones that you *really* want and can not get - Exuro's Will tends to be one of those as it is a fairly nice fire staff, especially for the heroes. I can also complain to no end about Saushali's Recurve Bow from Saushali the Frustrating as I have had even worse luck than with Exuro (I spent the last two hours of my time in the triple drop weekend on this freaking bow, never got it and ended up just using up some of my mods to reproduce it) - however that bow tends to not be one people fuss over - just me and my interrupt/dazer ranger hero

ok, nice explaination,

but I've been checking up on the guru pricelists (well if you can call em pricelists) they mention him among some others being overfarmed, so it got quite a cheap price tag to them, weird, since from most people I hear he doesn't drop it often.

But for the better of the players tho if they are overfarmed = makes em cheap

Well, you basically have two camps out there. One feels that drops are affected by "over farming" and may even have a limited amount of data. The other feels that is not true, it is perception.

I happen to fall into the latter camp.

The main reason is that Anet has repeatedly said that there is *no* code that scales drops based on how much it is farmed - even back when we had the anti-farming code it was only influenced by you, not what others were doing. I see no reason for them to lie and that is complex enough that they would know whether it works that way or not (if they do not keep track of how many farm that location then it is kinda hard to scale based on it).

Secondly I've done enough statistical analysis to see how wrong "feelings" can be even in those that do such a thing for a living (and may have been doing so for decades). It can be VERY amusing how grossly incorrect peoples "feelings" on these matters are routinely incorrect, largely because of what I wrote above coupled with too small a sample size.

So far I have not seen anything that says otherwise, I have seen poorly done "studies" that show both ways - but that is more because they are poorly done. Nor do I particularly think that Anet lies to us or can produce a game as complex as GW yet be incompetent enough to not know if they scale loot based on how many people farm the one item or know if they have different loot algorithms for different mobs.

You will note that most superstitions are done under the same categories - I can assure you that carrying a rabbits foot, four leaf clover, or wearing your lucky underwear isn't going to affect the probability of you winning the lottery. Nor does never winning it (even with the small amounts under 10 dollars) if you purchase from some store while winning several medium amounts from another mean there is some cosmic thing against you and that store. Yet there are thousands of people who swear differently and will say you are an idiot - just look at their numbers and it is obvious!

*shrug* it's been argued add nauseum and I like the old saying - you can not reason someone out of an idea that they did not use reason to come up with. You can choose to go by how you feel or you can go by what the people who created it say (or the math shows).
